"kids party supplies"

Earlier in the week I was on the hunt for some washi tape.  You know, the Japanese stuff that’s like masking tape but comes in the most wonderful colours and patterns imaginable and can be used for endless decorating purposes.  I found my washi tape and I also found Papermash…  a little London boutique full of wonderful, colourful, bright and happy paper goodies.

"washi tape and party supllies kids"

Their collection is small but everything in it is gorgeous.  There are cards and posters from the Rifle Paper Co, there’s lots of washi tape in solid colours or patterned (I went for the neon ones in coral and turquoise and I love them), then you’ve got party supplies including pretty floral paper cups, stripey straws and gorgeous honeycomb balls.  Papermash also have a few crafts that you can download for free and make yourself.  I’ve got my eye on the super pretty doily wraps which I’m picturing as party favour holders for my daughter’s next birthday bash.  Visit Papermash to see all their goodies.

mama & baby…

"aqua ballet pumps,knit sweater"

I’ve been ignoring the mama’s of late so I wanted to do something to fix this and I also wanted to mix it up a bit.  This is a new series I’ve started where there’s something for mama and something matching, contrasting, complimentary, clashing (you get the idea) for baby or young kid.  Today it’s these summery ballet pumps with tiny little tennis racquet charms for mama and a beautiful cashmere sweater vest for baby.  Leave a comment and let me know if you like the ‘mama & baby…’ series.

I got the inspiration for this idea from the wonderful Oh joy blog who does a series called ‘this & that’.  Theirs is a bit different but it was the foundation for this idea.

"girly art for girls room"

I’m on the hunt for some cool art prints and posters for my daughters room.  Her walls are bare (apart from a feature wall with the gorgeous pip early bird wallapaper) so I have a blank canvas.  I’m loving the idea of putting up lots of different prints, posters and postcards in close proximity to each other.  When I’m looking for unusual, off the beaten-track art for kids rooms, I often head to etsy because I know I’ll find something and sure enough this time I found Lily Moon from Cyprus.  I loved it!  Lily Moon is unashamedly girly but not cutesy and that works for me.  The art is inspired by imaginary stories and there is something about each one that draws you in and allows you to make up your own story.  I also love the old fashioned feel of the drawings and the soft colour palette.  One of my favourites is the little girl with the rabbit called ‘Alice’.  But they’re all magical and I think I might just have to get some for my daughters wall collage.

"vintage inspired playroom"

"bohemian style kids playroom"

"vintage kids bedroom"

Born in Marrakech in 2003, Zid Zid Kids is a brand of kids homewares, toys and accessories that really stand out from the crowd.  With strong Moroccan design influences their collections are rich and playful.  The other day while browsing Milk Magazine I stumbled across their home… their riad in Marrakech and it was love.  I’m especially crazy for their kiddy spaces which are oozing bohemian charm.  There’s nothing staged about these spaces; I can only really describe it as effortless style, the only kind of style to have.  There are many of their own products scattered around the home which only adds to the incredible charm of the place.  I love the colours chosen for each room, I love the ceiling lights and I love their almost random and ecclectic choice of wall hangings.  In fact, I love it all.

"kids dinner plate set"

My little 3 year old is a hugely fussy eater so I’m always looking for ways to make food more fun and more appealing.  Short of standing on my head, I think I’ve tried everything to make her eat.  Not much has worked but I have found that making the food look good and giving it to her on a colourful, attractive plate helps a bit (that’s what I like to believe anyway!).  So I’m always on the lookout for cool plates in the hope that it’ll make her eat more and my latest find is this 3 piece dinner set by Darling Clementine.  I love the bold, bright orange complimented beautifully by aqua blue and pink.  The little mouse is such a cutie too.  If I was served dinner on this plate, I think I’d eat every last crumb.

"colourful placemats for kids'

Darling Clementine is a Norwegian design house that create the most wonderful stationery and goodies for the home.  They combine fun illustrations with lots of bold colour and their unique style to make stuff that appeals to both kids and adults.  This 3 piece kids dinner set is their latest creation called ‘Little wonders’ and it should be available to buy very soon.  Also coming soon are 2 wonderful placemats that are part of the same series.  If not for your own kids, this set would make a great gift.  I know I’m seriously tempted.

"scandinavian kids clothes"

If you drop by often, you’ll know I have a huge amount of love in my heart for Scandinavian kids fashion.  Sometimes it’s understated,  sometimes a bit edgy or quirky but always seriously stylish.  My sponsor Scandinavian Minimall has the best of bunch at her online boutique where she brings us hugely covetable brands like Pale Cloud, Livly, Monamici, Norlie, Shirin Kids and so much more.  The thinking behind Scandinavian Minimall is to bring us the best of Scandinavian style but that doesn’t mean just Scandi brands… it’s any brand that represents the whole Scandi style ethos.

"scandinavian fashion for kids"

Gabrielle, the mama behind the boutique has recently introduced a small toys and decor collection which includes Lucky Boy Sunday and Blafre, two brands that I adore.  But this boutique is mostly about the delicious clothes it offers and their latest Spring Summer 2012 collection lives up to the high standards I’ve come to expect.  I’ve visited a pop-up sale that Scandinavian Minimall had in London and I felt like a kid in a candy store.  The clothes were just stunning and I couldn’t resist indulging!  To check out the entire collection visit Scandinavian Minimall.

"flower print gift wrap"Today I’ve got my eye on this oh so pretty wrapping paper by Australian brand Love Mae, the creation of 2 mama’s – Emily and Peta.  As Love Mae says ‘paper this nice should not be restricted to just wrapping presents’ and I couldn’t agree more.  I love the idea of covering notebooks with it or even using it as origami paper.  You could also create the most gorgeous garlands and bunting for your little girls room.  If you’re a crafty type then I’m sure you can think of hundreds more uses but if you’re not check out Love Mae’s blog where they have many tutorials on creating lovely little things with their paper.  And if you do just choose to wrap presents with it, you can rest assured your gifts will look utterly gorgeous!

"floral wrapping paper"If Emily and Peta are reading I have one request – please could you turn these in to wallpaper too?  Head to Love Mae to check out the paper.

In the past I’ve found some fabulous vintage furniture for kids but I haven’t had quite as much luck with the modern stuff.  Today I remembered a range of beautiful modern kids furniture that I had come across a while ago.  I’ve actually seen some of these pieces in a shop and they are even more beautiful than in the pictures.  This is the kind of eye-candy furniture that you’ll want in full view in your home, rather than tucked away in some obscure corner.

"kids play bench"

"modern bench for kids"

Made in Germany by Sirch, all the pieces are practical without being boring or bland in anyway.  I love the bright green and red felt against the natural wood and I love the simple, elegant, unfussy shape of this bench that is perfect for playing or reading.

"modern desk and chair kids"

"desk and chair for kids"

This desk and chair combo has to be my favourite of the entire collection.  This is the piece I’ve seen in a shop and even my husband did a double take!  The design is minimal but stunning… the soft curves with the straight lines, the pale wood with the bold felt, the complimentary shapes of the chair and the desk come together to create a piece of beauty.  Also included in the collection is an equally covetable chair and stool combo.  To see all these and the rest of the range, head to smallable.com

Beautiful balloons

"personalised gift balloons"

When I first saw these balloons, my heart skipped a beat.  How striking are they?  Digging a little deeper I found out that they’re made right here in London by Bon Bon Balloons.  These are the most wonderful balloons I’ve ever seen and the whole idea behind them is very special too.  The balloons come in a range of colours each with a beautifully decorated handcrafted string and when the person receiving it opens the box, the balloon floats up out of the box with your special message attached to the string.  Sweet!

"balloon birth announcement"

They can be sent for any occasion, they can even be individually crafted for you and Bon Bon Balloons also offer a design service for parties and events.  But I personally love the idea of sending these as birth announcements instead of cards… what an impact they’d make (admittedly it’ll be expensive but so stunning!).   To check out the entire range visit Bon Bon Balloons.  And if my husband is reading, I just want to add forget flowers, I want one of these very soon!

"clown soft toys and pillows"

The circus is in town!  This new collection of joyful circus toys and pillows is the creation of super talented mama, Anabel.  In the collection you’ll find a range of clowns, a circus tent, some circus animals and my favourite, the ringmaster pictured on the left.  All the toys can double up as pillows… I’m thinking super sweet sleeping companions for any little kid.  Made from baby alpaca wool, bamboo and cotton they are hand knitted in Bolivia so not only are the goodies very cute, they’re environmentally friendly too.  Anabel goes a step further by employing women artisans in Bolivia who wouldn’t otherwise have had the chance of earning.  These toys are toys with a conscience, making them even more desirable.  In addition to the new circus collection, Anabel makes lovely baby alpaca wool clothes and the most gorgeous crochet and knit necklaces for little girls.  Visit Fournier to see the entire collection.
