Miffy inspired DIY Easter treat bags

DIY Easter treat bags

I love Easter.  Not just because of all the divine chocolate you’re allowed to eat but also because of the four day weekend which is a rarity in the UK.  It’s a great time to switch off, spend time with family and of course eat more than your own weight in chocolate.  What’s not to love?

Last year I shared these free printable Easter treat boxes and this year I decided to make little DIY Easter treat bags that Anya can give to her friends.  One of my favourite bunnies out there is Miffy so he was the inspiration behind these cute little treat bags.  And the best part is that you don’t need to sew to make these bags, just use a glue gun instead.  Here’s what I did:

What you need to make these DIY Easter treat bags:
Some light white fabric
Paper & pencil
Scissors
Fine black marker pen
Hot glue gun

To start, you will need to create a template on paper for your bunny treat bags.  You’ll need to draw a Miffy shape face with extra long ears as the ears will later be tied up to close the treat bags.  To give you some perspective, the face I drew measures around 6cms and the ears are around 11cms high.  So these bags are definitely mini but can easily hold a fair few mini chocolate eggs or similar.  See the images below.

Next cut out the Miffy shape and place it on one end of your fabric.  Make sure your fabric is folded in two and the base of the face should be placed on the fold.

Using a pencil and your template draw the miffy shape on to your fabric and then cut it out.

Now you need to use your hot glue gun (on the low setting if you have it) to glue the sides of the face and the tops of the ears only.  Remember not to glue the part where the ears meet the face as that is your opening to slip in your treats.

Finally, using a fine tipped marker pen, draw on the eyes and the mouth.

Fill up your Easter treat bags with little treats like mini chocolate eggs, tie the ears and your bags are ready!

These DIY Easter treat bags are so easy to make so you can get your kids to help make them too.

P.S. These were really hard to photograph so the photo’s don’t do them proper justice – they are far cuter in real life!
