"French school bags"

I’ve got schools on my mind.  My daughter isn’t starting school this year but I have the all important task of choosing her first school soon.  Come mid-august, I think most of us start thinking schools either because our little ones are starting ‘big’ school for the first time or it’s back to school time or like me, you have to choose a school.  While choosing a school may feel like a big task, choosing ‘back to school’ goodies isn’t.  It’s the fun bit and I can’t wait till it’s my turn next year to kit out my daughter with some delectable bags, pencil cases and more.  For those of you who have the joy of doing this now, I’ve picked out some lovely school bags from the delightfully French and fabulous store French Blossom.

French Blossom offer a small but carefully selected range of stylish school bags all by French designers.  You’ve got retro styles by Mimi’lou or more modern looks by Bakker or even some very cute and colourful bags by Coq en Pate editions.  It’s hard to choose just one but if I had to pick a favourite I would go for Bakker.  I love the simplicity of their bags which either come in bold bright shiny colours or in subtle prints.  Head to my sponsors, French Blossom where you’ll find all these bags and more so your kiddo can go back to school in style.  And there’s a cool 10% off all non-sale items for my readers; just use the code EBABEES at checkout.

"handmade hairband for girls"

This week’s picks for mama & baby… let mama wear these eye-catching embroidered thong sandals while baby makes a style statement in that dramatic hand made hairband.

"colourful necklace for girls"

I am truly besotted by this new collection of kids jewellery by Bloesem.   Featuring pretty necklaces and bracelets in bold colours, each piece has a fun element making it perfect for little girls.  Simple styles with subtle embellishments {like the apple} make this collection unique.

"leather flower pendant necklace girls"

I’m loving the bright neon cords used in many of the necklaces especially the leather flower one and the one with the adorable mickey mouse pendant.  The classic pearl makes an appearance too but it’s been given a playful and modern twist with the addition of things like a wooden mini squirrel or some tiny charms.

"pearl bracelet for girls"

The jewellery is all handmade by the talented Irene Hoofs {a mama of 2} and comes in extremely limited quantities so if you want one I guess you’ll have to be quick!  And mama’s if you’re tempted, I’m excited to tell you that there’s a ladies collection too including a couple of DIY kits.  To browse these beautiful pieces visit Bloesem wears where you can see the entire collection.

"kids dress up crowns"

Which kid doesn’t like dressing up?  I have yet to come across one and in the meantime I think no dressing up box can be complete without a crown.  My daughter is no exception and has reached the age where dressing up is all she wants to do.  She wakes up each morning and before she’s even had her milk, she’s all dressed up!  So I have been adding to her dress up items and I’m currently on the hunt for a cool crown.  I’ve found 5 that I love so now it’s all about choosing… luckily I have an excuse to get 2 as you always need a spare crown, don’t you?!  Here are my picks:

1.  A very cool sparkly headband crown… 2.  A pretty and elegant crochet crown*… 3.  An easy to make but regal looking make your own cardboard crown… 4.  A sweet wool felt crown that comes in many bright colours… 5.  A knitted crown that’s simple but so stylish and it’s also available in many subtle colours.

These are a few colourful little things for kids that have been on my radar for a while so I thought it was about time I shared them:

"ring toss giraffe toy"

1.  A cute wooden giraffe ring toss toy by Sweet Whirl.  It so reminds me of the fun fairs I’ve visited as a kid as I always had to have a go at the ring toss game and I remember if I won, I’d come away with some giant soft toy.  2.  Love these handmade soft clock bracelets for kids.  My bambino loves wearing a pretend watch and I’ve never seen any nicer than these by Specks & Keepings.

"kids world map poster"

3. I’m a big fan of Elisabeth Dunker’s store Fine Little Day.  This ‘Fine Little World’ poster is one of her latest creations in collaboration with French Illustrator Steffie Broccoli.  It’s a bright and bold world map filled with animals, buildings and other things representative of the various countries of the world.

"flower ponytail holders for girls"

4.  How sweet are these tulip adorned pony tail holders for girls by Hello Shiso?  I’m loving the colours and the girly – ness of them.  5.  I don’t normally get excited about crayons but I really liked these with their bright, graphic wrappers from Pomme NYC.  And the best part is they don’t need a sharpener, just keep peeling the layers of paper to reveal more and more colour.

"atsuyo et akiko babies and kids"I’ve known about Atsuyo et Akiko for ages and have been meaning to share for a while so here it is today.  It’s a wonderful New York boutique where you can find a little bit of magic.  Magic for babies and a bit for boys but mostly for the girls.  On offer are fabulously girly necklaces, hair pins and tutu’s, shiny sparkly shoes and cute bracelets.  But the other thing that really caught my eye were the tee’s and onesies they have.  I’m not a fan of cartoon character adorned clothes but these one’s with mickey mouse and winnie the pooh just work.  I absolutely love the charcoal tee with the gold mickey silhouette.  There are also other very cool tee’s like the strawberry one and more.

The collection of goodies at Atsuyo et Akiko is fresh, it’s different and even a bit ecclectic.  The boutique is owned by two ladies, one with a fashion background and the other with a fine arts one.  The marriage of these two backgrounds shines through in their creations and their take on turning everyday fashion in to something a bit more special.  To feel the magic, head to Atsuyo et Akiko and and check out all their wonderful goodies.

"april showers by polder"

April Showers is a fabulous French brand offering bed linen, clothes, shoes and accessories for the kiddies.  I’ve known about them for ages but just realised I hadn’t shared and they’re definitely not one to miss out!  Created by 2 sisters from the Netherlands, Aprils Showers is the mini version of their adult brand Polder.  The styles on offer are contemporary with a touch of vintage and lots of charm.  On offer are gorgeous accessories including leather bags, fun necklaces, cool shoes, simple but stylish clothes and more.  There’s definitely more for the girls but there are some trendy boots and gloves for the boys too.  You can check out check out April Showers’ global stockists on their site or you can find a selection of their goodies which are currently on sale at Little Fashion Gallery

Fun with feathers

"feather fairy wings for girls"

My nearly 3 year old bambino was playing animatedly with a feather the other day.  While watching her I started thinking about a post on feathers.  There’s something about feathers that makes them special.  I don’t know what it is but they’re so soft and lovely to touch. So I went searching for some lovely things made of these tactile objects and here are my top 3 finds:

1.  How utterly gorgeous are these feather adorned fairy wings?!  Delicate and so feminine, I can’t imagine any little girl not being enamoured of them.  They’d make a perfect addition to a dressing up box although once worn, I’m not sure they’d ever be put away.  They’re by Atsuyo et Akiko and with Christmas coming up, they’d make the perfect gift too.

2.  These full feathered necklaces are a great accessory for slightly older girls.  Take a simple dress and elevate it to new levels with these lovely necklaces by Christa Davis.

3.  Last but not least is this feathered headband which isn’t just for dressing up days but also just to add a bit of drama to an everyday outfit.  It comes in a range of colours and is by the super creative American kids fashion brand Wovenplay.  If you’re Europe based, you can also get it at Little Fashion Gallery

"halloween masks and dressing up"Big or small, old or young, dressing up is always bags of fun.  And with Halloween around the corner there’s no better time to indulge in some dressing up fun (in my home though, you never need an excuse… dressing up day is everyday).  I went on search of some fun masks and dressing up accessories and my search ended with Oeuf NYC.  They’re definitely not your typical Halloween costumes but that’s why I love them so.  Their offerings include deer and owl masks, the cutest mask and tail sets that come in a range of animal types, a cool crown and those mustaches that I want for myself.  All of these dressing up goodies are made of 100% baby alpaca wool so they’re goodies to keep in the dressing up box and use all year round.  These dressing up costumes and masks cost from £24 to £38 at Little Fashion Gallery and shipping is worldwide.  Of course if you’re in the USA, you can just head to Oeuf NYC.

"Namhee hairclips, hairbands for children"

I have a very soft spot for girly accessories as long as they’re free from over embellished frilly-ness.  So naturally when I saw the oh so pretty creations by Namhee I was hooked.  For any girl with a girly side, these are irresistible.  Hairbands, bracelets, necklaces, hairpins and brooches all draped in the most gorgeous liberty-esque fabrics and many adorned with a sweet little birdie is what Namhee offer for the girls.  The little bird brooches are just so lovely and I can see them adding bags of style to cardi’s, coats, dresses and tee’s.  All these wonderful accessories are hand sewn and hand finished and come in a range of colours from bold fuchsias to aqua blues and forest greens.  Many have flower prints but there are checks and polka dots too.  Today I’ve lusted after Namhee’s hair accessories and jewellery for girls but there are other offerings that are equally delectable… more on that another day.  For now, to get these beauties for your little girl head to Atsuyo et Akiko (which is a whole other post!).  The Namhee accessories cost from $16 and Atsuyo et Akiko ship internationally on request.
