"animal winter hats for kids"

This has got to be the cutest animal Winter hat collection ever!  Each year as the weather starts turning cooler, I look forward to buying Anya a new Winter hat.  The Winter hat is not only an essential accessory but also such a fun one too.   From babies to kids, they all look so cute in fun hats like these.

This selection of Winter hats is for boys, girls and babies so nobody gets left out.   I’m really loving the whole collection and finding it hard to choose a favourite.  But if I had to choose one I think it would be the pink hat with the pom pom ears although the fluffy white bear one is so adorable too.  What’s your favourite?

"excuses kids use to delay bedtime"

I love bedtime with Anya.  We snuggle up together and read a story often surrounded by a menagerie of stuffed animals.  After lots of kisses and cuddles we say goodnight, I turn the light off and leave.  That’s the good bit.  Then comes the painful part – getting her to actually go to sleep!  I’ve found that as she’s getting older, she is coming up with more and more imaginative excuses not to sleep. Of course we get the usual ‘I’m thirsty’, ‘I’m hungry’, ‘I need the toilet’ type excuses but recently her imagination seems to have gone in to over-drive and here are some of her latest reasons not to sleep:

“I don’t like sleeping, it’s too hard”

“I’ve forgotten how to close my eyes”

“I think my heart is sick, it’s beating too fast”

“My eyelashes are hurting” (what?!)

Anya: “I can’t sleep”
Me: “Count sheep then” (I explain how to count sheep)
Silence.  I’m feeling smug because at least for today I’ve cracked it.  But two minutes later, this:
Anya: “I’m scared”
Me: “Why”
Anya: “I think I saw a sheep in my bedroom”

And the latest one from last night:
“I have chicken pox”

What are some of the excuses your kids use? I’d love to hear them in the comments.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone x

"floral dresses for girls and women"

When I think of floral prints, Summer immediately comes to mind.  But recently I’ve seen a lot of bold florals that are perfect for Autumn.  Think big, bold, stand-out prints in dark tones like deep pinks, rusty reds and midnight blues.  This Autumn floral trend has me hooked for Anya and myself.

Statement pieces like these would look great paired with a solid colour or if you’re brave enough, you could try mixing them with another simple print like polka dots or stripes.  For the more adventurous amongst us you could even try mixing two floral prints – I will admit I’m not brave enough to do that!  I’ve picked out a few of my favourite pieces for mama and baby and while they’re all striking, I’m quite in love with those floral print girls wellies and the floral tights for women.  Both would create quite a stunning Autumn look when worn with solid muted colours and that’s the kind of look that appeals most to me; one statement piece that really shines.   Here’s where you’ll find these pieces:

1. floral print women’s tights | 2. floral canvas overnight bag | 3. printed skinny jeans for girls | 4. modern floral print skirt for girls | 5. leafy baby bloomer | 6. floral wellies for girls | 7. floral tunic dress for women | 8. girls hair clip

"whale poster whale art""black and white posters""black and white puma poster"

For me no room in any home is complete without some art.  Kids rooms are no exception but usually I’m not a fan of the over cute, over colourful, cartoon style art.  There are some exceptions but generally I prefer ageless art; something everybody can relate to.  I also prefer art that grows with your child so you don’t have to replace it every few years.  When I came across these posters, they were exactly the kind of art that could go on the walls of any room of a home but something everybody can connect with.  Striking and minimal, these animal posters are cool and really draw you in.  There are a load of animals from bats to koalas but my favourite is the simplest of them all – the whales.  I especially love these black and white animal posters for a bright, white modern baby nursery.

Farewell Summer style

"kids on the moon Poland"

I have been resisting saying goodbye to Summer because it was all too fleeting for me.  But come September, I have no choice but to accept that my favourite season has passed for another year.  This Summer we managed to spend a lot of time outside enjoying many of London’s outdoor spaces and events but we also managed to get away and spend a bit of time in the English countryside.  Apart from missing all the outdoor time, I will miss Summer fashion too.  One of my favourite pieces in Anya’s Summer wardrobe was this gifted flowy top with the soft feather drawing.

"girls Summer tops""white summer tops girls""kids on the moon Summer"

This beautiful top is a limited edition fashion meets art collaboration between Kids on the Moon and Taiwanese artist Hsiao-Ron Cheng.  It’s such a comfy top too with it’s flowing style and leather tie detail at the neck.  Kids on the Moon are one of my favourite kids clothing brands because they always offer something different and something original.  Just like this top with the feathers and the unexpected leather tie straps, every piece of theirs has originality and unexpected details but never compromises on comfort and practicality for kids.  I can’t wait to see what Kids on the Moon have in store for us for Autumn and Winter.

"hand knitted baby clothes to buy UK""hand knitted childrens clothes""buy knitted baby clothes uk""hand knitted baby clothes uk""knitted kids clothes uk"

I’ve always been a huge fan of hand knitted baby and kids clothes and these ones are my latest obsession.  Not trying to be fashionable or trendy, these are charming clothes made by hand and made to last through generations.  I’m lucky enough to have a mum-in-law who knits for Anya so I have bags full of baby knits that I’m saving for the next generation.  But if I didn’t, I know I would invest in some timeless classic pieces like these, that will never go out of style.  These knitted baby and kids clothes by Hambro & Miller currently go from 0 to 4 years but will soon go up to eight years and there’s even a homewares range coming soon.  All British made with love, the collection is quite special, don’t you think?

"quick makeup for busy mums"

A few weeks ago, I went for a make-up consultation with Fre-ya Barker at Fenwicks Bond St.  I wanted to try a few new beauty  products so rather than go from counter to counter at a department store, I thought it would be so much easier to go to one place where you are not restricted to any one brand.  Fre-ya is an independent make-up artist who is not tied to any brand and so she uses a very broad range.  She creates a look for you based on what you’re looking for and her entire fee (£50) is redeemable against products.

I got to try a whole lot of make-up some of which was fantastic but the stand-out product of the day for me was this Stila 10-in-1 illuminating beauty balm.  Applied over clean , moisturised skin, the second I had it on I noticed a very visible difference in my skin.  My skin tone was more even, my skin looked brighter and fresher and overall I was very impressed.  Even though the balm is coloured, it doesn’t have any colour once applied to the skin.  It can be used on its own or under foundation/tinted moisturiser.  This is my new go to product for when I need a very quick fix and don’t have time to layer on loads of make-up.

As I mentioned a while ago, I’m not heavily in to make-up on a daily basis but I do love a product that really works, saves me time and makes me look and feel good.  In the mornings, especially during school time, like every other mum I’m busy getting life organised so I don’t have bags of time to spend on make-up.  Now I see myself applying this each morning with a dash of blush and spot of lip gloss for the school run.  All done in under three minutes.  This Stila illuminating beauty balm is just the thing for me and any mum who needs a quick skin brightner especially when time is of the essence.

Have you tried it?  What do you think?

A twin baby nursery

"boy girl shared nursery ideas twins"

I recently came across  a new nursery furniture range from Spain and I loved the modern lines and colourful accents.  The range consists of cribs like the ones pictured above, chests of draws in a range of sizes, striped teepees and more.  The nursery furniture has a contemporary vibe with unexpected little details like the angled legs and of course the cool colour accents.  I chose my two favourite colours to share but there are many more including a beautiful wood and white one.  This furniture is the the creation of one of my favourite Barcelona based shops for kids – if you are ever in Barcelona, do check out Nobodinoz but otherwise they are online too.

Rather than just show you the furniture, I thought it would be fun to create a baby nursery mood board and for a change I decided to go for a shared baby boy and girl nursery space – maybe for boy and girl twins.  Here’s where you’ll find all the stuff:

1.  mountain tops wallpaper | 2. pink, white and yellow pom poms  | 3.  fruit posters | 4.  bird mobile | 5. grey baby rabbit lamp | 6. brown bambi lamp | 7.  coloured wooden chests of drawers | 8. colourful flag garlands (these exact colours are no longer available but you can get similar)| 9.  wooden baby cribs with coloured base | 10. high chair with changeable inner seat | 11. baby quilts and bed set | 12. toy storage baskets | 13. floral print star cushion | 14.  fox and koala soft toy

Just start…

"start making those dreams come true"Do you have a project that you’ve been putting off?  Have you been waiting for the right time?  I’ve had a project in mind for months and I kept finding reasons not to do it.  The reasons ranged from time constraints to fear of failure (if I’m completely honest) and everything in between.  I’ve realised if you put your mind to it, you can find one million excuses not to do something.  And that’s exactly why I was stuck.

Then I came across this quote and it really resonated with me.  I realised that I had been creating obstacles for myself and there really was no reason not to start.  Yes, it may not work but I won’t know that till I’ve tried.  And after all isn’t it better to have tried and failed than to regret never trying?  Yes, time is an issue but I also believe you can make time for something you truly want.  With hard work and dedication to my project, I pictured where I could be in one years time and that spurred me on greatly.  And finally one of the best ways to make yourself do something – tell people about it!  Simple.  So I have started telling friends and I’ve now told all of you!  I can’t wait to share more with you soon.  Watch this space!

Have you been putting off a dream?  What will motivate you to start?  I’d love to hear what’s stopping you from going after it because chances are whatever it is, can be overcome.

Have a wonderful weekend full of making your dreams come true x

"tocoto vintage for kids Uk"

Do you know Tocoto Vintage?  If not, you need to check them out.  From Spain, they have been making the most adorable clothes for babies for a few years.  For the first time they have expanded their range to include clothes for 2 to 8 year olds and this new Autumn Winter collection is understated, stylish and has their signature vintage touch.  The clothes come in beautiful muted colours, soft fabrics with chic little details that look great but are also very cosy and comfy to wear for boy or girl.

I’m loving those charcoal grey ‘tomboy’ overalls because I think every little girl needs a little dose of tomboy style once in a while.  And also that grey sweater with the adorable ruffle trim.  Amongst all the charcoal is that pinky-plum colour and some very deep midnight blues all coming together to create a gorgeous colour palette for the Winter months ahead.  Even though I never look forward to the colder months, I can’t help but get excited about stylish Winter fashion like this.
